Founded in 2003, Calikites is dedicated to kiteboarding. We strive to increase awareness, safety, and enjoyment of all aspects of kiting. Brian and Danny grew up in New York before learning how to kiteboard in the Outer Banks. Brian born and raised in New York, ended up seeking out the snow at The University of Colorado, Boulder. After graduating with a degree in economics, Brian moved to West Palm Beach where he studied the art of kiteboarding for a year. After he was told to get a job enough times, he moved to San Diego where he used his degree to work as a financial advisor. Deciding after a year that it wasn't right for him he called Danny and Shane to see what they were up to. Shane grew up in the Chicago area and ended up attending the University of Colorado. During his years in Colorado he spent most days skiing, flyfishing, camping, and just enjoying the Mountains. He graduated in 2003 with a Finance Degree. Shane first learned to kite in Florida in 2000 during a spring break trip and the rest was history. After graduating Shane began pursuing a financial and ski instructor position with Vail Mountain. During one fine day in April Shane received a call from his old buddy old pal Brian about starting a kiteboarding business in San Diego. One week later his car was packed and the adventure was to about to begin.

Danny went to College in Maine, because he's not as smart as Brian and Shane. Between Maine and San Diego, Danny has lived in North Carolina, Texas, Florida, Denmark, and upon his boat in the vague watery regions of the Caribbean and Pacific. Before joining his brother and Shane at Calikites, Danny has worked as a sailing instructor, short order cook, options specialist, landscape architect, architectural engineer, and professional model.
