Neoprene shelter jackets are designed to be thrown on over a wet wetsuit, blocking wind and holding heat while you pack down. They are far more effective than a normal jacket, which soaks through immediately and then makes you colder.

Some models double as a light layer for on-water use in warm conditions. Look for a decent hood and a cut long enough to cover your lower back when you sit down.
