Water Helmets
Helmets are increasingly standard in kiteboarding and close to essential in wing foiling, where a hard carbon mast and a moving board are in the water with you. We stock water-specific helmets from Mystic and ION.
A water helmet is a different thing from a bike or skate helmet. It drains quickly so it does not pull on your neck, floats rather than sinking, and uses a fit system that survives salt water. Look for ear protection if you ride in cold water, since repeated cold-water impact is what causes surfer's ear over time.
Fit should be snug enough that the helmet does not shift when you shake your head. See also impact vests.
