Privacy policy

We're a kite shop in San Francisco, not a data company. We collect what we need to get gear to your door, keep you in the loop, and make the shop better. We don't sell your info, full stop. Here's the plain-English version of how it works.

Calikites is operated by Digshy Inc., 350 Hayes St, San Francisco, CA 94102. When this policy says "Calikites," "we," or "us," that's who we mean.

What we collect

  • Stuff you give us: your name, email, phone, shipping and billing address when you order, create an account, sign up for the newsletter, enter a contest, or reach out to us.
  • Order details: what you bought, when, and how it shipped. Payments are handled by our payment processors (Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, PayPal and similar). We never see or store your full card number.
  • Stuff your browser tells us: device type, browser, IP address, pages you looked at, and how you found us. This comes from cookies and similar tools.
  • In the shop: if you buy at 350 Hayes, we record the sale and, if you want, your contact info for warranty and receipts.

How we use it

  • Process and ship your order, handle returns, warranty claims and support.
  • Send order updates and, if you opt in, early access to deals, new gear drops and shop news.
  • Prevent fraud. We ship kites and boards with signature required and may call to confirm an order.
  • Figure out what's working on the site so we can make it better.
  • Show you relevant ads on other sites (you can opt out, see below).

Who we share it with

Only the people who help us run the shop:

  • Shopify, which powers our store and checkout.
  • Payment processors to take your payment.
  • Shipping carriers (UPS, USPS, FedEx) to deliver your gear.
  • Email and marketing tools to send the emails you signed up for.
  • Analytics and ad partners like Google and Meta (Facebook/Instagram), who use cookies to measure traffic and show ads.
  • The law, if we're required to respond to a legal request or protect our rights.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money.

Cookies

Cookies keep your cart working, remember you're logged in, and help us understand how people use the site. Some come from Google and Meta for analytics and ads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, but your cart and login might get forgetful.

Emails and texts

We only send marketing emails if you signed up. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Order confirmations and shipping updates still come through, because you'll want to know where your kite is.

Your rights (California and beyond)

We're a California business, so we follow the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal info we have about you and how we use it.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.
  • Delete your info (except what we have to keep for orders, taxes, warranty or legal reasons).
  • Stop using your info for targeted ads.

Email info@calikites.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We'll verify it's you and get back to you within 45 days. We won't treat you differently for asking.

Keeping it safe

Our checkout is encrypted and runs on Shopify's secure platform. No system is 100% bulletproof, but we take reasonable steps to protect your info and only keep it as long as we need it.

Kids

Our site is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect info from anyone under 16. If you think a kid sent us their info, let us know and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top. Big changes, we'll make obvious.
